Daisy is a respected Filipino poet, translator, interpreter, and retired professor from the University of the Philippines Diliman, where she taught Spanish and Italian for many years.
She has authored acclaimed poetry collections including En la línea del horizonte and Momentos e instantes, the latter receiving the Premio José Rizal de las Letras Filipinas in Madrid Her Chabacano poetry book Hermoso palabra: Un obra chabacano also earned the Premio Antonio Abad
Beyond writing, she has translated major literary and historica works and served as a simultaneous interpreter in international conferences across Asia and Australia. Today, she is Director of the Academia Filipina de la Lengua Española, continuing her mission of promoting Spanish language and culture in the Philippines.
Despite her many achievements, she says her favorite role is still teaching-proudly answering to the name her students lovingly call her: "Profe."
