Project overview
The “Resilient and Sustainable Green Economy Approach” or Siargao Green Economy Project fosters climate resilience and green economies in Siargao Island through inclusive, gender transformative governance and private sector engagement. The Siargao Green Economy Project initiates the identification, design, and implementation of durable solutions linked with circular economy. Our main objective is to improve solid waste management systems and promote green economic initiatives, enhancing community resilience and environmental sustainability. Operating on a local scale, the project is supporting local governance and empowering local communities, private sector, and other stakeholders in building resource-efficient and green economies. Alongside, we are strengthening gender-inclusive and transformative community preparedness, mitigation and prevention for disasters and while enhancing resilience to climate change.
OBJECTIVES
General Objective: Contribute to the right to a resilient and healthy environment on the island of Siargao.
Specific Objective: Improving solid waste management and the green economy through capacity development.
OUTPUTS
- MLGU SWM plans and structures are enhanced and integrated into DRR and ACC plans.
- MSMEs and CSOs participate in solid waste management and implement environmental practices.
- SWM, DRR and ACC knowledge and practices improve in households, communities and institutions.

Action Against Hunger is a global humanitarian organization that takes decisive action against the causes and effects of hunger. Their presence in the Philippines has spanned for over two decades, reaching isolated and hard-to-reach communities and prioritizing areas with often overlooked needs. It has a long track record of emergency, early recovery, and development work in the country.
